I've had a long-time interest in AV starting with audio in the 70's. I built my first set of speakers when I was in the eighth grade. A two way ported design. By education I am a civil engineer and have always liked to build things. For several years, I worked in the construction industry, running some fairly large projects. Later my brother and I ran a commercial general contracting business, building schools and hospitals.
I got married and built a house. My first HT system was in a family room, consisting of, a 32" TV, Kenwood receiver, combination of Yamaha NS-690 and Polk speakers (4.1) and an NHT sub. I always had plans to build a dedicated HT onto the house, but after kids, those plans changed into a media room. Built a large family room onto the house and one end of it was for my HT equipment. In this room I used a combination of RBH SI-760 and RBH 661-SE speakers in a 5.1 system. This was in the 90's, so I was still using a direct view TV.
In 2005 I discovered AV Science forum, while doing reaserch on projectors. Later I added an Epson HC400 LCD projector and a 106" DaLite High Power 2.8 gain drop down screen to my media room. Room had so much ambient light that I could only use the projector at night time. Later I purchased a Marantz VP12S4. I lLoved the image that projector threw on the HP screen. In 2007 I converted an exercise room to a dedicated HT room. I have a media room mainly for TV and a dedicated room for movies.
In 2011 I went to work for AV Science, so my hobby and passion for HT became my job. Due to my engineering background, I understand the principles of room and system design and with my construction background I know how to achieve those goals. I enjoy helping the DIY AVS community design their rooms and systems. I am constantly testing and changing things in my HT rooms, so that I can keep up with the latest trends in HT. So if you need advice on equipment, design or how to achieve your goals I am happy to help you.
Currently my dedicated room is a baffle wall system, that I designed and built. My LCR's are 3-way active design that I built myself and I also built all of my subs. The room is a 5.1.4 system.

I've been a home theater owner and enthusiast ever since I got a free electric screen from a construction job site in 2002! That electric screen got me interested in building my own home theater.
My first real home theater projector was an NEC HT1000 DLP projector, back in 2003. Since then, I've owned an Optoma H79 projector, a Digital Projection dVision 1080p projector (both bought from AV Science before I came to work here as a salesman), a Sim Lumis Host, a Sony VW 600ES, and a JVC DLA-RS4500K.
I've built myself four different home theaters over the years, and helped friends build home theaters too. I came to work for AV Science so I could help others build great theaters at an affordable price, just like I've done over the last 13 years. I've also enjoyed building my own surround sound systems, from 5.1 to 7.1 to my current 11.2 system, using Martin Logan Motion series speakers, a Denon receiver and SVS subwoofers. You can see my home theater here: Peer theater
I work remotely from California, and am always available for help, questions, or to order home theater equipment, Monday through Friday, from 8:30am until 4:30pm, Pacific time.
I'm passionate about home theater. We have 2-4 movie nights a week with friends, year round. Let me help you build the theater of your dreams !

When I learn a new skill or sport, I enjoy educating others to help them appreciate the skill or sport as well. As a result of my interest in home audio, I have helped thousands of AVSForum members since 2008 to troubleshoot their existing AVR setup issues.
As a result of joining with the AVScience team in 2013, I have also assisted prospective buyers make correct AVR and speaker choices that best meet their feature/input/output/budget requirements.
When I'm not troubleshooting AVR systems, you'll likely find me on my road bike where I ride on average about 7000 miles/year in Florida and the N. Georgia mountains.
I'm the newbie on the block, never even knew about home theater until I started working at AVS 6 years ago - but to say the least, now I am hooked. My living room is exactly what you would expect a "man cave" to look like, Epson Pro Cinema 6040 projector, 106" screen, 7.2 surround system, Denon AVR, Xbox and big comfy reclining sofa/chairs to relax in.
I love watching movies, am a huge fan of soccer (go Manchester United!) and live with my best friend - Pumba - a sweet brindle Pit/Greyhound rescue.
My job is to provide sales and support to customers in our Rochester showroom and just about everybody on staff at AVS; oh, and did I mention that I am also a certified Control4 programmer and calibrate projectors? Just call me "Jack of all trades".
I've been involved in the audio/video business for over 40 years. I started working for some of the well-known stereo chains in Southern California and eventually became a home theater designer and Crestron programmer. I've been lucky enough to have experienced the evolution of home theater from CRT projectors to laser projectors and from stereo sound to Dolby Atmos.
Besides working with all kinds of high-end gear, another enjoyable part of my career has been the opportunity to meet and design systems for many high-profile clients. I love seeing a client's smile when presenting their system and teaching them how to use their system!
I now handle our forum, website, online store, newsletter, and internet presence for AVS.
As a former singer songwriter as well as graphic artist, I have always had a passion for the performing arts as well as the sounds and visual presentation that go hand in hand with that world.

Communication in a modern world travels through many channels, and how we present and process that information is constantly evolving. My hope is to facilitate this communication for our customers by using the tools at my disposal in the world of AV.
Above all, my main focus is on being a problem solver. I enjoy helping my customers identify their needs and wants, and then find the best solution for the application. I have a long history in customer service, and strive to assist my customers with a personal touch, and support after the sale.
