We Are Obsessed With Home Theaters

Since 1996, AV Science has lived and breathed all things home theater. We are a custom audio/video retailer serving both residential and commercial clients. Our team of experts is not only dedicated to helping clients create the perfect home theater, but they are also true home theater enthusiasts. Our greatest joy comes from unveiling a client’s new system and showing them how it works.

AVS is HTA certified

As an HTA Certified company, you can be confident that in selecting AV Science that you are hiring a company with a proven and vetted history of technical ability and customer service.

All HTA Certified companies meet the following criteria:

  • Ownership and management team must have 3+ years of successful business performance
  • A stellar reputation in the marketplace
  • A demonstrated history of technical competence
  • A demonstrated history of providing high-quality aftercare service
  • No significant litigation history
  • Do not have tax liens
  • At least $1M of liability insurance
  • Have not filed bankruptcy in at least the past 5 years
  • Must perform background checks on all new employees
  • Agree to provide a copy of control system programming code to client
  • The ability to deliver high-performance enterprise-grade computer networks
  • Endorsements from at least three manufacturers
  • Endorsements from at least three local industry professionals
  • Endorsements from at least three design/build professionals *
  • Have Worker’s Compensation insurance if required by state
  • The ability to deliver engineering documentation and as-built drawings (Estate & Luxury tiers only)
  • The ability to deliver high-performance theater acoustical design (Estate & Luxury tiers only)
  • A demonstrated history of delivering a high-quality home automation experience (Estate & Luxury tiers only)

Mike Garrett

Senior Sales Representative

An engineering and construction background makes Mike uniquely qualified to offer homeowners the insights and support to build and install their systems. He relishes the problem-solving component of his job and enjoys helping his clients realize their home theater dreams. When he is not watching movies in his home theater, chances are he is out for his daily run.

Craig Peer

Sales Representative

Craig caught the home theater bug in 2002, and he’s been building and improving his system ever since. AVS clients benefit from his passion for creating the ideal home theater for their needs – he loves showing people how affordable a system can be. Obviously, Craig spends time watching movies with friends and family, but he also enjoys getting outside to road cycle and rock or mountain climb.

Jason Rentschler

System Engineer

Finding the right solution for clients is what Jason loves most about his work at AV Science. His knowledge and experience with carpentry and auto repair allow him to approach projects from a unique perspective. Taking long walks with his dog, Pumba is his favorite pastime.
 

Edo Sejdic

Shipping Manager & Installer

Working with AV Science for nearly nine years, Edo is the man that makes sure everything is just as it should be. Paying attention to the details and making sure that the final product matches the original vision is where Edo shines. When he’s not working, he stays busy chasing his three young kids.

Chornay Hem

Office Administrator

Choranay was born and raised right outside of Boston, MA. He found his love for computers and technology at an early age. When he was 13, he broke down and put together his first PC. Choranay spent some years learning how to program, then switched to Networking. He had his first IT job when he was 17. Choranay competed in Tae Kwon Do for 10+ years and became a lead instructor in NY. His favorite sport is soccer, which he’s been playing since he was 4, played throughout high school and college and is still currently playing competitively.

Laurie Elkin

President

Numbers are Laurie’s first love. Her career at AV Science began in 2003 when she became its bookkeeper. Nine years later, she bought the company. Her numbers obsession continues today, but she is equally passionate about the dedicated team she has built. Since the beginning, Laurie has fostered a working environment of open communication and respect, which she feels has led to much of AVScience’s success. Away from work, Laurie is an avid traveler who enjoys reading fictional thrillers, cooking and painting with watercolors.

Marc Elkin

Vice President

With over 45 years of audio/video experience, Marc has been applying his special set of skills to his work at AV Science since 2012. Having experienced the evolution of home theater from CRT projectors to laser projectors and from stereo sound to Dolby Atmos, Marc is an invaluable part of the team. When not designing or programming a new system, Marc can be found traveling with his wife or indulging in some Trader Joe’s Coffee Bean Blast Ice Cream.
